The Computer Museum of America continuously seeks to add unique and rare artifacts to the collection. The museum collects in three main categories including hardware, computer culture, and archival (including software).
Items offered for donation to the collection are carefully assessed in multiple categories. The museum considers the historical significance and provenance of items, as well as the rarity of an artifact. These are balanced with the need for conservation and maintenance of each object, providing public access for research, exhibition potential, and available resources for long-term preservation.

Accepting Artifact donations:
After submitting the online donation form below, CMoA staff will review and follow up by email within 30 days of your submission.
If your offer is accepted, CMoA staff will get in touch to schedule delivery of your donation to our collections team. Donors will be asked to complete a Deed of Gift, which is required for the donation to be accepted. A Deed of Gift transfers ownership of your donation to the museum and will serve as your tax receipt.
If CMoA fails to notify you within 30 days of your offer, we have reviewed the offer and decided the item(s) are duplicate items already in the collection or out-of-scope with our collecting plan.
Determining value of donated items:
CMoA cannot provide information regarding the value of items for donation or items accepted into the collection. We recommend the American Society of Appraisers or the Certified Appraisers Guild.
Mailing or Dropping Off a Donation:
CMoA does not accept unsolicited donations through the mail or in person. Please fill out the form on this page if interested in donating items to CMoA.
Display of items:
The museum cannot make any guarantee donated items will go on display in an exhibit.
The CMoA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and will provide acknowledgement for donations. A Deed of Gift transfers ownership of your donation to the museum and will serve as your tax receipt.
